BioCarta Acquires Anderson Unicom Group Webalog System and Technology
SAN DIEGO, CA – November 10, 2000 – BioCarta, a worldwide organization that provides information and products for life science researchers, announced
today that it has acquired exclusive rights to the Anderson Unicom Group
webalog, a web-based procurement solution and web site. Terms of the deal
were not announced.
As a result of the acquisition, Roger Anderson, PhD, the founder of Anderson
Unicom Group, has joined BioCarta as its new Vice President, eBusiness and
Web Projects effective immediately. Dr. Anderson will focus on developing
technologies that expand the online resources that BioCarta offers to life
science researchers worldwide.
With over one million items from over 2500 industry suppliers of laboratory,
chemical, and scientific products, the Anderson Unicom Group webalog system
will be integrated into the current BioCarta web site. The BioCarta
Marketplace will aggregate product information in an easy to use, logically
categorized format that will complement the other features of the BioCarta
web site. Coupled with the graphical models of molecular and cellular
pathways, online publication tool in the ePoster section, and searchable
BioCarta Gene Database, the Marketplace, as part of the overall BioCarta web
site, will facilitate research and collaboration worldwide while exposing
researchers to the increasing number of product suppliers in today's life
science market.
